Ribbit Learning is a collaboration platform for educators consisting of web sites, services, software applications and networks that allows for the authorized download and distribution of written digital content over the internet (the “Ribbit Learning Platform”). The Ribbit Learning Platform is owned and operated by Ribbit Learning Company (“Ribbit”).

Ribbit values the privacy of the users, subscribers, publishers, members, and others who visit and use the Ribbit Learning Platform (collectively or individually, “you”, “‘your” or “Users”).

By using the Ribbit Learning Platform, you expressly consent to the information handling practices described in this notice. This Privacy Notice is incorporated into and is subject to the Ribbit Learning Platform Terms of Use. Your use of the Ribbit Learning Platform and any personal information you provide through the Ribbit Learning Platform are subject at all time to this Privacy Notice and the Terms of Use.

This section identifies material changes to this Privacy Policy since the Effective Date.

  1. The Fair Information Practice Principles

Ribbit complies with the Fair Information Practice Principles (the “Principles”) as developed over the years and implemented around the world.  The Principles consist of the following elements:

  • Notice: We notify you of our practices in writing.
  • Choice: You have the choice to provide or not provide your personally-identifiable information (“Personal Information”).
  • Accountability for Onward Transfer: We explain with whom we share your Personal Information and are responsible for any use of your Personal Information by those who receive your Personal Information from us.
  • Security: We explain how we keep your Personal Information secure.
  • Data Integrity and Purpose Limitation: We agree to keep your data intact and limit our processing of it.
  • Access: You have access to your Personal Information that we have, including to review and correct it.
  • Recourse, Enforcement, and Liability: You have the right to complain and to enforce your rights in your Personal Data.

The Principles have been implemented in different ways, in different laws and regulations, including the EU-US Privacy Shield at https://www.privacyshield.gov (“Privacy Shield”). For clarity, Ribbit is not a member of the Privacy Shield, and Ribbit has no plans to certify with the Privacy Shield, but Ribbit complies with the Principles as implemented in the Privacy Shield.

  1. The Information Ribbit Collects:

User-provided Information: You may provide to Ribbit what is generally called ‘personally identifiable’ information (such as your name, email address, postal mailing address, home/mobile telephone number, demographic information) if you log in to the Ribbit Learning Platform, or otherwise use the features and functionality of the Ribbit Learning Platform, including transmitting teaching materials and communicating with other participants.

’Cookies’ Information: When you access the Ribbit Learning Platform, we may send one or more cookies & small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters to your computer. Ribbit may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Ribbit Learning Platform. We may use cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts for administrative, analytical, tracking, and demographic gathering. You can view Ribbit’s Cookie Policy here.

’Automatically Collected’ Information: When you access the Ribbit Learning Platform, we may elect to automatically record certain information. This ‘automatically collected’ information may include Internet Protocol address (‘IP Address’), browser type, a unique device or user ID, internet service provider (ISP), operating system, the content and pages that you access on the Ribbit Learning Platform, and the dates and times that you visit the Ribbit Learning Platform. We may combine this information with other information we collect about you to improve Ribbit Learning services.

  1. The Way Ribbit Uses Information:

Ribbit uses the information that you provide or that we collect to operate, maintain, enhance, create and provide all of the features and services found on the Ribbit Learning Platform as well as to track user-generated content and usage trends.

We may use your email address for administrative communications such as notifying you of major Ribbit Learning Platform updates, for customer service purposes, to address copyright infringement or defamation issues, or to contact you regarding any content that you have uploaded to or used or within the Ribbit Learning Platform.

Ribbit may use ‘Automatically Collected’ information and ‘Cookies’ information to: (a) automatically update the Ribbit application on your system; (b) remember your information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you access the Ribbit Learning Platform; (c) monitor aggregate site usage metrics such as total number of visitors and pages accessed; (d) provide such metrics to Users as they pertain to such Users’ uploaded content; and (e) track your entries, submissions, and status in any promotions or other activities.

  1. Ribbit Information Disclosure:

Ribbit does not share your personally identifiable information with other organizations for their marketing or promotional uses without your prior express consent, provided however that, Ribbit may share your personally identifiable information with (i) third party entities or organizations for data analysis and Ribbit may share, or authorize such third party entities or organizations to share the results of such analysis with valued partners under obligations of confidentiality, and (ii) a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of Ribbit’s  assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Ribbit about our Users is among the assets transferred. Please be aware, that any personally identifiable information that you voluntarily choose to display on the Ribbit Learning Platform such as when you publish attribution credits for documents or profile information becomes publicly available and may be collected and used by others without restriction.

We may disclose User information to affiliated companies or other businesses or persons to: provide web site hosting, maintenance, and security services; fulfill orders; conduct data analysis and create reports; offer certain functionality; and assist Ribbit in improving the Ribbit Learning Platform and creating new services features. We require that these parties process such information in compliance with this Privacy Notice, we authorize only a limited use of such information, and we require these parties to use reasonable confidentiality measures.

  • Ribbit may disclose User information if required to do so by law or when such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws (such as U.S. Copyright law) or respond to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, or warrant in the manner required by the requesting entity.

Ribbit also reserves the right to disclose User information that we believe is appropriate or necessary: to take precautions against liability; to protect Ribbit from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; to investigate and defend ourselves against third-party claims or allegations; to assist government enforcement agencies; to protect the security or integrity of the Ribbit Learning Platform; or to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Ribbit, our Users, or others.

  1. Our Commitment to Data Security:

Ribbit uses commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Ribbit, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission of information, Ribbit makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

If Ribbit learns of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. Ribbit may post a notice on the Ribbit Learning Platform if a security breach occurs. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing.

  1. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy:

If you are under 13 years of age, then do not use or access the Ribbit Learning Platform at any time or in any manner.

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important. For that reason, Ribbit does not knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information from persons under 13 years-of-age. If Ribbit learns that personally-identifiable information of persons less than 13-years-of-age has been collected on or through the Ribbit Learning Platform, then Ribbit will take the appropriate steps to delete this information.

  1. In the Event of Merger or Sale:

In the event that all or a portion of Ribbit is acquired by or merged with a third-party entity, we reserve the right, in any of these circumstances, to transfer or assign the information that we have collected from Users as part of that merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our Web site of any change in ownership or uses of your personally identifiable information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.

  1. Changes and Updates to this Privacy Notice:

Please revisit this page periodically to stay aware of any changes to this Privacy Policy, which may be revised periodically at our sole discretion, as provided in the Ribbit Terms of Use. This Privacy Policy may be revised periodically. If we modify the Privacy Policy, we will notify each current user by email (sent to the e-mail address specified in the user’s account), and by means of a notice on this Site prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of the Ribbit Learning Platform constitutes your consent to any modifications to this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to any modifications to this Privacy Policy, then you may terminate your account, and you will be subject to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use most recently in effect prior to termination of your account.

  1. Your Choices

You may decline to share certain personally identifiable information with Ribbit, in which case Ribbit may not be able to provide to you some or all of the features and functionality found on the Ribbit Learning Platform. Ribbit may retain all information you have submitted for a variety of purposes, including backups and archiving, prevention of fraud and abuse, analytics and the use and disclosure purposes described herein. If some other person has uploaded your Personal Information to Ribbit without your permission, please contact us (at one of the addresses listed in “Contact Use”), and we will review that data with you. If we agree that the data in questions is your Personal Information, then we will modify or delete your Personal Information, as you prefer.

  1. Special Notice To California Residents

Under California Law SB 27, California residents have the right to receive, once a year, information about third parties with whom we have shared information about you for their marketing purposes during the previous calendar year, and a description of the categories of personal information shared.  To make such a request, please send an email to info@ribbitlearning.com and please include the phrase “California Privacy Request” in the subject line and provide us with your name, address and email address.  We will respond to you within thirty (30) days of receiving such a request.
